Lutein is one of the major components of macular pigment and it is essential to proper vision.1 Eating large quantities of lutein and zeaxanthin-containing vegetables can help provide the nutritional building blocks necessary to maintain the structural integrity of the macula. It’s difficult, however, to increase systemic circulation of these important nutrients through food alone.2 Now there is an easier way to bolster your eye integrity. Lutein and the two types of zeaxanthin are very well-known to help preserve the health of the macula and act as defenders against excessive oxidative stress. They help keep eyes functioning well, even over time. MacuGuard® Ocular Support contains phospholipids, which are an integral part of the cell membrane. In addition to mixing well with other important fat-soluble components of the eye such as lutein, phospholipids have been shown to help support efficient absorption of dietary lutein in the blood stream as well.2-7 Phospholipids have been shown in scientific research to improve systemic circulation and accumulations of lutein in the retina of the eyes, making them a potent all-around weapon in your arsenal for eye health.6,7 MacuGuard® Ocular Support offers triple eye protection:
This formula provides ingredients that have been shown to protect healthy eyesight. Each capsule contains MacuGuard® carotenoid phospholipid blend, which provides phospholipids, lutein, meso-zeaxanthin and trans-zeaxanthin, along with cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) from European black currant extract. The formula also contains astaxanthin, which when taken with other carotenoids has been shown to protect against free radical-induced DNA damage and may play a protective role against eye fatigue. MacuGuard® Ocular Support with Saffron & Astaxanthin also contains an anthocyanin flavonoid extracted from European black currant berry. Cyanidin-3-glucoside encourages the regeneration of rhodopsin, a retinal compound that converts visible light to the electrical signals that reach the visual centers of the brain, especially in low-light conditions.8,9 Rhodopsin needs to be continually regenerated, but science believes that as we age this happens less and less.10 Cyanidin-3-glucoside may help older eyes see better at night. Vision-enhancing benefits of saffron This formula also includes saffron extract. Multiple clinical studies have shown that supplementation with 20 mg of saffron helps support vision and retinal function, as measured both by advanced technical testing and on the Snellen eye chart that is commonly used by doctors to test vision.8-10 |
